Branding for Hashtag Ensemble, a contemporary music collective based in Warsaw, Poland.
Hashtag Ensemble is a music collective focused on contemporary and new music, improvisation, and music education. Through their activist spirit and thoughtful programming, music becomes a vehicle for contributing to discussions that are relevant to the society today. Demystifying the aura of unapproachable sophistication that is commonly attributed to contemporary music scene, they strive for an open, welcoming atmosphere in their activities.
I was tasked with designing the visual identity for the ensemble.
In 2023, Hashtag Ensemble launched Hashtag Lab, the first venue dedicated to contemporary music in Poland. I designed the branding for the place as well.
We started from clarifying the Ensemble’s mission and raison d’etre. I proposed an identity formed around the idea of a ‘superorganism’ - a collective and vibrant being, composed of colourful individual working in unison under a shared motivation.

Brandbook
Not just an ensemble, but an active non-profit managing its own concert venue, organising an annual festival and a range of different activities, Hashtag Ensemble needed a flexible design system. An extensive brandbook covers the use of colors, patterns and typography across various applications.

Mural around the entrance to Hashtag Lab.
"Ciekawość" means curiosity. I chose the word as a keyword for the mural because I like its double meaning ('a curious place', but also, curiosity in search for the subject matter, in caring deeply about the state of the society, etc.)
